This year, UNESCO is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the entry into force of its Constitution. The ICC Executive Council co-organized a conference to celebrate 75th years of NGO’s contribution to the UNESCO’s Missions.
UNESCO was created to respond to the firm belief of nations, forged by two world wars in less than a generation that political and economic agreements are not enough to build a lasting peace. Peace must be established based on humanity’s moral and intellectual solidarity.
Since its founding, UNESCO has sought to collaborate with NGOs, which are fundamental civil society partners for the implementation of the Organization’s activities and programs. Over the years, UNESCO has built up a valuable network of cooperation with NGOs having an expertise in its fields of competence, i.e. education, science, social and human sciences, culture, communication, and information.
To organize this conference, we had team-up with CIOFF and Soroptimist International, two NGOs, like us, in official partnership with UNESCO.
The event was broadcasted on Youtube on Saturday June 5th at 03:00 PM CET (Paris).
Rotary International President Holger Knaack, Soroptimist International President Sharon Fisher, UNESCO-NGO liaison Committee President Davide Grosso and CIOFF International President Philippe Beaussant were among the speakers.
