Dear Mohamed and dear friends in the Rotary Family,
Thank you very much for your e-mail and sharing our sorrow.
The earthquake caused many deaths and property loss in the south and southeast regions of Turkey. There are many buildings, homes, hospitals, schools and government offices were severely damaged all over the region. Many main roads collapsed. The terrible news and images keep coming and coming.
Thankfully, Rotary world has been trying to help and has been showing their support. And Turkis Rotarians are working 7/24 to help.
In this difficult times, we kindly invite you to join these efforts to help recovery of affected areas. Please, help me to spread the need. So, what can you do:

Dear friends,
Some updates about the Earthquake:
The two successive and big earthquakes along with the aftershocks have been effective in 10 cities where more than 13 million people live. This is one of the biggest disasters of the geography we are living in leaving a huge destruction and debris.
So far 3500+ deaths were reported, 22 thousand casualties. Thank god 8000 people were saved but the hopes for the way too many under the rubbles are diminishing every minute. The freezing cold makes it hard to survive and the lack of electricity, natural gas and accommodation is a major problem for the survivors.
The government has declared state of emergency. The army has been given a role to help the rescue teams. 36 hours have already passed after the first earthquake, less voices are being heard from the rubbles as the time is running.
All contributions are welcome, our clubs and district have been active in providing generators, blankets, food, water, diapers, clothing but more is needed. Thanks in advance for your support.
