As my time as Chairman of the Rotary ICC Executive Council has ended, I would like to thank you for your service for Rotary Intercountry Committees.
I have always believed that our commitment to Rotary is first and foremost a matter of being true to one’s convictions and being able to fulfill our vision of a better world.
More than a century ago, Rotarians pioneered a new model of service leadership grounded in person-to-person connections.
Rotary Intercountry Committees have a major role to play in bringing our connections to be a network that spans the globe, moving the lines and carrying the projects that Rotary needs to bridging cultural, linguistic, generational, and geographic barriers.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you all the ICCs members and partners.
This has been an emotional and inspiring two years for me. I have been deeply moved by the spirit of service demonstrated by ICC’s participant all over the world. From promoting international understanding through friendship exchange, and peace seminars and training to supporting humanitarian response to the Ukrainian crisis to initiating or supporting international service projects, we are making a difference and advancing the cause of peace.
I am pleased that, through the communication strategy we have executed the past two years, we were able to tell our Rotary ICC stories and reaffirmed the important function of ICCs to create bridges, foster peace, and facilitate cooperation between different cultures and nations.
The work of our many dedicated volunteers in almost 500 ICC sections deserves to be recognized, cherished and shares – and our work together did that to a growing influential audience within Rotary. We will need to continue to promote their stories with clubs around the world and work with them to inspire Rotaractors and Rotarians to join ICCs.
Our continued success and future is critically dependent on our ability to address the expectation of the next generation and draw them closer to the core value and action plan of Rotary International to increase our impact, expand our reach, enhance participant engagement, and increase our ability to adapt.
In these turbulent times, I encourage you to continue using our message of hope and understanding to open opportunities and serve to change lives.
I wish Mohammed, who succeeds me today, his team, and all of you a wonderful Rotary year 2022-2023.
Sincerely
Cyril Noirtin
2020-2022 Rotary ICC Executive Council Chairman
