Rotterdam Summit 2026 – ICC Breakout Session
Intercountry Committees will host a breakout session “Connecting for Peace” at the Rotterdam European Action Summit in September 2026.
What if peace begins with one simple conversation across borders? That is how the first Intercountry Committee (ICC) started in 1950, bringing French and German Rotarians together after World War II. More than 75 years later, that idea is more relevant than ever.
Across Rotary, ICCs are gaining new momentum. New connections are being made, partnerships are growing and Rotarians are rediscovering the power of friendship across borders.
On 12 September, we bring that energy together. And you’ll want to be in the room.
WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE ROOM?
Expect 90 minutes of ideas, interaction and new connections:
- Opening remarks by Rotary International President Yinka Babalola (subject to availability)
- Learn from the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP)
- A dynamic Youth Peace Summit pitch by Anastasia Moor
- An interactive discussion connecting ICCs – Annemarie Mostert, the Rotary Action Group for Peace – Dirk Lustig and Rotary’s Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention efforts – Lies van Wijngaarden.
- Meet author Pauline Sibbel and discover her fresh perspective on peace
- Bring your own ideas and connections into the conversation
WHY NOW?
ICCs are experiencing new international momentum — connecting countries, generations and Rotary networks.
Be inspired by ideas emerged or what new connections started. Be there when it happens. Continue the conversation at the ICC Promotion Booth, connected with the Peace Booth in the House of Friendship.
Meet ICC representatives from around the world and discover where your international Rotary connections could lead.
“In a world where divisions are growing, Rotary need places where people can meet across borders, build trust and turn dialogue into action. That is the unique strength of ICCs. The Rotary European Action Summit is our opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and shape what comes next.”
Annemarie Mostert, ICC Executive President 2026-2028
This is not a session where you simply sit and listen. You are part of it.
