The philosophy behind the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Icon was to create more than a monument; it was conceived as a universal message from Egypt to the world. The composition brings together symbols deeply rooted in Egyptian civilization with the universal language of peace.
The lotus rises from the ground as a symbol of rebirth, while the wings, inspired by ancient Egyptian imagery, open outward in all directions, embracing the globe and expressing protection, openness and the meeting of civilizations. Above, the doves and olive branches carry the message of peace beyond borders.
Water, light and movement were integrated into the design so that the monument would feel alive rather than static. For me, the essence of the Peace Icon is very simple: Egypt, a civilization that has connected Africa, the Middle East and the world for thousands of years, continues to open its wings and send a message of peace, dialogue and coexistence to all humanity.
